Precious metals department is considered as one of the technical departments in JSMO which provides a set of services to ensure the quality of precious metals jewelry. The precious metals (platinum, gold and silver) fineness is checked, by testing at precious department laboratory, and then the conforming jewels are stamped with JSMO Hallmark. This is applied for locally manufactured and imported jewels.

Receiving & Preparing Samples Division
Receives the precious metals jewelry whether imported or locally manufactured and checks the fineness standard declared by the importer or manufacturer. Random samples are taken for further testing.

Stamps precious metals jewelry corresponding to fineness standards with JSMO hallmark by using the laser ( laser machines) and manually (punch hallmarking).

Inspection Division
Perform periodic inspection on workshops and selling shops of precious metals jewelry. In addition, follows up consumer complaints. This aims to ensure that the precious metals jewelry offered in the market is conforming to the fineness standard and hallmarked.
